The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of anger rumination in the relationship between core self-evaluations and forgiveness. This study employed a descriptive–correlational design in which the relationships among the variables were examined within a conceptual model. The statistical population consisted of adults aged 18 years and older. A total of 202 participants were selected through convenience sampling and completed the questionnaires online. Data were collected using the Core Self-Evaluations Scale, the Anger Rumination Scale, and the Forgiveness Scale. The findings indicated significant negative relationships between core self-evaluations and anger rumination, as well as between anger rumination and forgiveness and all of its dimensions. Furthemore, significant positive relationships were found between core self-evaluations and overall forgiveness scores, as well as its dimensions. The analyses revealed that anger rumination played a significant mediating role in the relationship between core self-evaluations and forgiveness. Specifically, higher levels of core self-evaluations were associated with lower levels of anger rumination, which in turn were associated with greater forgiveness. These findings highlight the importance of positive cognitive–emotional resources in facilitating the forgiveness process.
